Attractions in and around Haiku
Haiku vacation homes afford you an appealing variety of comforts and easy access to nearby places of attraction. You have the option to visit the Haiku Town Center to find a couple of decent eateries and a collection of small shops and restaurants at the Haiku Marketplace. Try out a few lip-smacking Hawaiian delicacies at Hana Hou and Island Taco along with traditional offerings. Most of these shops and outlets have been converted from old Pineapple canneries, which once were extensively used for pineapple farming in and around this city with a relaxed feel. If relaxation is your idea of a vacation, do visit the cities of Hana and Honokowai as well in Maui for the kind of possibilities they offer.
Volcanoes: Haiku also boasts of many spectacular volcanoes which are worth visiting. Volcanic features helped create high points like Haiku Hill and Giggle Hill.
Tours: Travelers should not miss out on touring volcanoes. Jeep tours of the jungle are a great family experience.
Music: You also have the opportunity to explore the music of the Hawaiian people that is celebrated all over the world for its rich tonal qualities and classic presentation. While dining in Hana Hou, you can enjoy the nightly entertainment. Bruddah Francis plays music by request and his repertoire ranges from old Hawaiiana tunes to a damn good Elvis.
Activities in Haiku
Haiku has a lot to offer to its visitors, especially in terms of outdoor activities and water sports. Haiku has no beaches within walking distance, but is just mere minutes to the north shores of Kihei, Wailea, and Makena beaches. It is also just a five minute drive from the world famous Hookipa windsurfing beach, one of the best places on the island for windsurfing. Activities available in the area include swimming, surfing, horseback riding, biking, golf and helicopter rides. Surrounded by lush tropical jungle, the town of Haiku is near Halehaku Bay, and many secluded hiking trails and walking paths.
Surfing / Windsurfing: Avid surfers would find exciting opportunities to hone their skills at Ho'okipa, located between Pai'a and Haiku. For the particularly skilled and daring surfers and windsurfers, the world's largest wave known as Peahi or "Jaws" is located at the base of steep cliffs in Haiku. It is an interesting spectacle to watch wind surfers riding on massive waves reaching a height of more than 70 feet! The geological formation in the region is such that deep valleys run into higher elevations and lead to increased rain to make the place colder as compared to its adjoining regions. It is a wonderful treat for a nature lover to dwell in Haiku vacation rentals and enjoy the pleasures of serene relaxation and recreation in Hawaii.
ScubadivingScuba diving in the waters of the Pacific Ocean is popular with the tourists.

Photography: Haiku offers opportunities to photographers to capture birding images in a truly unique setting.
Dining: The old Pineapple canneries have been converted into small hubs of shopping, restaurants and light industry. The Haiku Marketplace is the largest of these former canneries and has the most to offer. Colleen's is a good bet any time of day. Their pizza is quite good as is their breakfast. Kimura Saimin offers good Saimin and other cheap local style food. Hana Hou is a great restaurant located in a small building next to the cannery.
